How Do I Get Warranty Service on My Hunter Douglas Shades?

Hunter Douglas offers a “Limited Lifetime Warranty” on every product they produce. The full text of the warranty can be found here. In a nutshell, “Hunter Douglas window fashion products are covered for defects in materials, workmanship or failure to operate for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product.” Operational cords are warranted for 7 years from date of manufacture, and motorization components are warranted for five years.

In general, Hunter Douglas services the warranty through the dealer who originally sold the shades, and in the event that you should require service this is who you should call. If the dealer who sold the window coverings is no longer in business you still have some options available to you. 

Options:

  1. You can call Hunter Douglas directly at 1-800-789-0331 (9:00 AM – 8:00 PM EST).  If the repair is relatively simple i.e. cracked or broken tassels, missing end caps, they will send you replacement parts free of charge. If you are a more savvy do-it-yourself type, the will even send you re-string kits and the like. If it is a more complicated repair they may offer to have you ship the product to them where they will fix it at no charge. You will most likely have to pay the shipping costs however, and as you might imagine that can get fairly expensive. You will also be without your shade for 1-3 weeks. Hunter Douglas will not pay to have someone come to your house to repair your window coverings.
  2. Hunter Douglas has local Authorized Repair Centers. If you contact Hunter Douglas at 1-800-789-0331 they should be able to help you locate one near you. If you feel comfortable taking the shade down yourself and re-installing it upon return, you can take it to an authorized repair center where they should be able to repair it at no charge. You will most likely be without your shade for a couple of days. If your shade is out of warranty or you are not the original purchaser there will be a charge for the repair.
  3. YOU CAN CALL US! We perform all repairs on site at your home. There is no need for you to do any work at all! One of our Hunter Douglas Certified Professional Installers will take the shade down, make the repair, and re-install it for you. We carry replacement parts on our vans and in the vast majority of cases we are able to make the necessary repairs in one visit so that you don’t have to be without your shade. Because we are not a Hunter Douglas dealer we are able to supply parts at no cost, but Hunter Douglas does not pay us to come fix your window coverings, so we do have to charge for our time and labor.
